Planning Fall/Halloween Parties
To keep you from dreading having classroom parties and to have them go smoothly you must plan for it. Planning your Fall/Halloween party will lead you to having a successful fun time!
Organize the Party
Decide on a date and time that your party will held. Knowing that parents
will want to attend, choose the date ahead of time so that both you and the parents can be prepared. Let them know the details of the party so they know exactly when to be there and what to bring. Post a sign outside your door so that they know what time they can come into your classroom.

Involve the Parents
Ask the parents for help. It is amazing what they will do to
help. They can help prepare materials for that day, printing, copying, cutting, decorating etc. You can also ask them to bring certain snacks.
If you subscribe to receive the Froggy About Teaching Newsletter, you will receive helpful classroom freebies directly to your inbox such as the following Fall/ Halloween Parent Letters that are editable so that you can add your party details before printing and sending to parents.
Take advantage of the fact that parents will be present. Put them to work. Start your party by having a parent read a fall or Halloween-themed book to the kids.
Decide where you want your sitting during the read aloud. Do you want them at the carpet near the reader, sitting at their desks with their parent sitting next to them, or around tables with their parents. Consider how you are going to transition them from their desks to the carpet and back to their seats.
Fall-Halloween Themed Activities
Plan some fun Fall-Halloween-themed activities for the kids to do at their tables/desks that parents can do with them. A parent can pass out
the activities. For great Halloween-themed resources with educational and fun activities at Froggy About Teaching. Take a look at Halloween .
Have a place where the goodies can be sorted into bags or plates. You can use grocery bags or store-bought bags. Ask some parents to do
the goodie sorting and other parents to pass them out to the students.
To have things move smoothly have a timeline. When it’s time to transition to the next activity you can keep things moving by announcing the next activity. Prepare the kids ahead of time by letting them know when you make certain announcements they should know how to proceed.
2:30-2:35 Welcome Parents into the classroom and direct them where to go.
2:35-2:40 Storytime-Have students go to the carpet while parents stay at the tables, for the story. This time frame includes the transition to and from the desks and carpet.
2:40-3:00 Fall-Halloween themed activities
3:00-3-20 Pass out and partake of the goodies
3:20 Thank the Parents and ask them to wait outside for their children. Clean up, throw away, and pass out leftover goodies to the kids that brought them.
